From Punta Arenas, the road to Cabo Vírgenes crosses into Argentina and continues through the landscapes of Santa Cruz. The destination is a Magellanic penguin colony near the Atlantic entrance to the Strait of Magellan.
What the experience involves
The journey is by road. At the reserve, marked paths allow you to watch penguins without obstructing them. Road travel and border procedures take up a significant part of the day, so planning ahead is essential.
Before you travel
The tour is listed from October to March. We check availability and access before confirming. Documents for entering Argentina and returning to Chile depend on each traveller’s nationality and circumstances; tell us if children are travelling.

Do I need documents for the border crossing?
Yes. This is an international trip. Check current requirements for your nationality and for any children in your group before booking.
