The Base Torres trail takes you over slopes, through forest and across a final stretch of rocky ground. At the viewpoint, a lagoon lies beneath the three granite towers. Both the ascent and the return require time and physical effort.
What the experience involves
Allow 9 to 10 hours of walking, plus transfers. A guide accompanies the group throughout. Trips can be arranged from Puerto Natales or from Punta Arenas when a group forms; the latter requires a much earlier departure.
Before you travel
You need good fitness, hiking footwear and protection from rain and wind. Cloud cover affects the view of the towers. Before booking, tell us about your hiking experience and check park admission arrangements for your date.
Is there an option with less walking?
Yes. The Torres del Paine and Milodón Cave day trip explores the park by vehicle with sightseeing stops. It is a separate excursion.
